The Department of Chemistry at Queen Mary University of London is looking to support applicants for the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) Fellowship. These fellowships are for people who are less than 4 years post PhD at the deadline (17th September). The Academy provides funding for 5 years, with a maximum contribution from the Academy per application of £625,000 over the five-year period, at 80% of the full economic costs (fEC). The scheme aims to support early-career researchers in establishing their independence and international reputations; provide long-term support enabling the pursuit of an ambitious programme of engineering research and impact; and to develop ambassadors for the Academy and advocates for STEM disciplines.

Unlike previous rounds, the 2025/26 round would only include the Research Fellowship scheme and the Engineering for Development Research Fellowship (EDRF) scheme has been removed. However, we will continue to accept applications under the EDRF umbrella in the current round and they would be treated no differently to Research Fellowship applications.

To better understand your research, please include a current CV (up to 2 pages), the date the PhD was awarded, an abstract of your proposed research (300 words), a statement on the timeliness and novelty of the research (250 words), and a brief description of any large or expensive (>£10k) equipment required for it.

Faculty Panel sift: Friday 13th June
Once results have been disseminated, successful candidates will be allocated a mentor to help them develop their application: w/c 16th June (TBC)
