Anna Maltsev, Reader in Applied Probability in the Centre for Complex Systems, has contributed an essay to the The Future of Papers series on Proofs and Prompts. Under the title "In Defence of Incremental Mathematics", she argues that AI makes useful incremental research easier to produce but no less valuable, and proposes that leading journals expand their capacity by adding electronic daughter journals and paying referees, rather than overhauling the publication system.
