This Friday Søren Riis will talk on Drift and Selection in LLM Text Ecosystems

Abstract:
AI-generated text increasingly feeds back into the public record that later AI systems learn from. This talk develops a mathematical framework that separates two forces in this recursive loop — drift (random loss of rare forms, analogous to genetic drift) and selection (publication and verification filters that shape which outputs survive) — and examines when the net effect on future learners is beneficial and when it is harmful.
