Interests
My group is broadly interested in evolutionary genomics, archaeology, conservation biology and sustainable agriculture. We exploit the power of ancient and modern genomics to contrast current patterns of genetic diversity to those in the past: this allows us to track evolutionary processes including artificial selection, extinction, speciation and domestication through time.Current projects focus on reconstructing the evolutionary history of domestic species such as dogs, pigs, chickens, cats, cattle and sheep. Our group is also involved in multiple projects that study past extinction processes, and epidemics in canids, bovids and suids in wild and domestic populations, with the aim to extend this knowledge to tackle current conservation and agricultural challenges.
