Functional Materials and Nanoscience

The Centre for Chemical Research has significant research activities focused on the design and synthesis of novel functional materials, their characterisation and application in a variety of areas spanning from drug delivery over charge storage to electronic biosensors.

Through a multifaceted and interdisciplinary approach, we develop and utilise novel functional materials from the nanometre length scale and up in different areas and tailored towards different end applications including organic electronics and bioelectronics, nanoscale biomaterials and superhydrophobic surfaces, hierarchical/multifunctional inorganic hybrid nanostructures, alternative materials in sustainable batteries, and molecularly imprinted nanogels.
