Doctoral Training

The Faculty of Science and Engineering provides a stimulating environment for over 1000 Post Graduate Research (PGR) students, supervised by our world-leading academic staff, with access to state-of-the art facilities

All our students are well supported by world-leading academic supervisors, along with the Queen Mary's Doctoral College and dedicated Directors of Graduate Studies in each School. In addition all PhD students having access to our regular student support services such as Advice and Counselling, the Disability and Dyslexia Service and Careers and Enterprise.

Additional studentships for underrepresented groups

For 2024/25 entry, the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Doctoral College will be offering four fully-funded doctoral studentships (tuition fees and stipend at the UKRI London rate) specifically to UK applicants from underrepresented groups in research with priority for this round to those Black, Black British, Caribbean, or African candidates.

Externally Match-funded PhD Studentships

The Faculty of Science and Engineering at QMUL is pleased to offer a suite of opportunities for industry/3rd sector-academic collaboration to support PhD studentships. The level of support depends on the IP/licensing arrangements, type of partner and the level of commitment. If you are interested in sponsoring a PhD studentship then please do get in touch with the particular research centre/academic staff and the Business Development team at QMUL.
