Research Impact

Our research delivers translational impact which is benefiting society, both locally and across the globe

Entrepreneurship, innovation and engagement are an embedded part of our research culture. We seek to maximise impact on our society through tight interactions between academics and industry, governments and non-governmental organisations. We currently have multiple active companies within our spinout portfolio. Whilst the impact of our research can be immediate, it can also take decades to be nurtured. From commercialisation to policy change, the Faculty of Science and Engineering supports the development of ethical and sustainable impacts. In the 2021 Knowledge Exchange Framework, Queen Mary were placed:

  • in the top 10 per cent of all English universities for ‘research partnerships’
  • in the top 20 per cent for ‘IP and commercialisation’
