Interests

Embryonic development is an intricate process governed by gene-regulatory interactions that occur with spatial and temporal precision. Given the complexity, it can seem surprising how reliable this process is even when gene function is lost. Our research uses zebrafish and functional genomics approaches to study the underpinnings of phenotypic robustness during embryonic development. We are interested in understanding paralog interactions and gene expression plasticity.

We also use our large mutant collection to uncover disease mechanisms. One of our current projects investigates a newly identified neurodevelopmental disorder caused by de novo variants in a chromatin modifier.
