Electroencephalography (EEG) lab

The Centre for Brain and Behaviour at Queen Mary University of London provides a dedicated EEG facility for research into human brain activity, cognition and behaviour.
The laboratory is equipped with a 64-channel BioSemi EEG system housed within its own Faraday cage, supporting high-quality electrophysiological recording with reduced electrical interference. The facility also includes dedicated high-performance audio-visual stimulation equipment, enabling precise presentation of visual and auditory stimuli during behavioural and cognitive tasks.
EEG is particularly suited to studies requiring millisecond-level measurement of neural responses, including event-related potentials, oscillatory activity and time-frequency analyses. The facility supports research across perception, attention, decision-making, metacognition, consciousness, language, social cognition, mental health and neurodevelopment.
The system can be used alongside behavioural testing and other human research methods available within the Centre, allowing researchers to link neural dynamics with task performance, subjective reports and physiological responses.
