Coupled nonlinear systems with dissipation and external driving — whether periodic or non-periodic — exhibit remarkably rich spatiotemporal dynamics, ranging from synchronisation and pattern formation to chimeras (partial synchronisation) and chaos. In this talk, we explore these phenomena in a network of nonlocally coupled dissipative kicked rotors, a simple yet physically motivated model that captures essential dynamical features. We investigate several types of transitions: from homogeneous states to temporal period-2 states via period-doubling bifurcations, between different spatial periodicities, toward chaotic regimes, and in transient dynamics.
Related works in physical contexts will also be briefly discussed, including prethermalisation and time rondeau crystals.
