Title: Working with AI in (pure) mathematics

Abstract: At the beginning of this year, the best publicly available AI models still produced absolute slop when asked to help with research questions in my area. Today, AI has become integral to my efforts to do high-quality mathematics. In this talk, I will discuss some practical ways in which today's frontier LLMs can assist research in mathematics. I will largely draw on my own experience in pure mathematics but much of it will be more broadly applicable. I will also spend a little time at the end speculating about the future and where I see our profession headed.
